As the old saying goes ‘there’s no time like the present’ and given the current climate now is an opportune time for our members to start planning and preparing for transition and life after rugby.
Over the coming weeks our brand new #WRPALocker Webinar Series will feature some amazing guest speakers, from all walks of life, to help our members plan for the future.
The new educational series, which complements the WRPA’s Personal Development Programme (PDP), was launched yesterday, Thursday 14th May.
Sky Sports News presenter and double Royal Television Society award winner Nick Powell got the series underway as he shared his expertise and knowledge of working in media.
Former Kent County Cricket Club batsman and captain, David Fulton, joined Nick in our virtual classroom. David shared his account of making the transition from full time professional sportsman to a cricket pundit and after dinner speaker.
Sharing his thoughts on making the transition from the rugby pitch to the studio was former Wales captain and British & Irish Lion Matthew Rees.
Members in attendance heard first-hand accounts from those who have made the transition from professional sport to a media career. They were able to take away key learnings as they look to build and develop their off-field skillset and their future career aspirations.
