Following the recent article published in Wales Online regarding WRU's proposed contractual model for players in Wales, the WRPA and its Executive Board have released the following statement:
1. The WRPA and its Executive Board consisting of senior players have met with the WRU but have at no point discussed industrial action with its members.
2. We note from the article that the information provided is by an unnamed source. We can confirm that the views expressed in the article do not represent the views of the player collective at this present time. Furthermore, the WRPA has no knowledge of the figures quoted in the article.
The WRPA is committed to engage with both the WRU and the regions in order to represent, develop, promote and protect the best interests of professional players in Wales, with further consultation meetings between the WRPA and the WRU having already been set.
The WRPA will make no further comments until the conclusion of these meetings.
