Under IRB Regulation 23, it is the responsibility of your Club to ensure that there is put in place “appropriate” insurance cover on your behalf.
Cover should be in place for:
Permanent Total Disablement (PTD)
Temporary Total Disablement (TTD)
Loss of rugby related salary
PTD effectively means an injury which prevents you from working permanently. There are two types of PTD applicable – PTD from playing rugby and PTD from doing any job.
All Regional and International Players are currently covered under a Regional Rugby Wales Insurance Policy.
For some players the amount of benefit under this policy would not be a true reflection of their earnings. Players should be looking to cover double their earnings should you suffer a career ending injury occur.
The WRPA have met with the below suppliers and advisors that will provide all WRPA members with sufficient Income protection cover subject to individual quotes.
