The International Rugby Players’ Association (IRPA) was founded in 2001 to promote, advance and protect the international interests of professional rugby players.  IRPA is the professional players’ representative body on international issues of importance to the professional players and the game of rugby.

IRPA is important because:

  • As a key stakeholder in the game it is essential that professional players have international representation and input into issues of importance to them – IRPA provides the means to achieve this.
  • Professional rugby players throughout all countries and playing environments face similar issues and opportunities. By working collectively, in a professional and organised manner, professional rugby players will be more respected and more effective at addressing issues of importance to players and the game.

Further information about IRPA can be found on their website.

Along with the WRPA, IRPA member nations include:

England

Ireland

Australia

New Zealand

South Africa
